I have been using iTunes (on Windows XP) as my software for data and
organization, ripping to alac with error correction on, and today, on
two albums (out of 700+), I have crackle and pop with playback. I
double checked on my laptop with a different database (also with iTunes
error correction on), but at 256 VBR for synching with the iPod, and the
crackle pop is there as well. So, it seems that iTunes error correction
is not all that great.....I want to get rid of iTunes(!), at least for
my lossless database, and I'm leaning to FLAC. Is there a way to
transcode to FLAC from alac and check the database for errors, or do I
have to re-rip all my discs?.....Paranoia says re-rip with dbpoweramp
or EAC with some better error checking....is there a way to avoid
this?
Thanks,
Tikigod
