1)I assume MPS and MP# actually means MP3?

2)I know nothing about the the Zune software. Squeezecenter can read
artwork embedded in the audio files or from a seperate image file
called folder.jpg, album.jpg, folder.jpg or thumb.jpg, located in the
same folder as the audio files.
Take a good tagging program like MP3tag to see if your MP3 files have
embedded artwork.

3)Squeezecenter/Squeezebox can play back WMA and MP3 files, but not DRM
protected files (such as purchased music from Zune Marketplace).
If you are sure the affected files are DRM free you need to provide
some more information about your setup and files to investigate this
further.

4)LAME can't improve the quality of your files in any way. You only
need lame if your files can't be played back natively on the Squeezebox
(WMA and MP3 are both native formats) or if you need to limit bandwidth
due to bandwidth restrictions between Squeezecenter and your Squeezebox
(highly unlikely with WMA and MP3 in a home network). Using lame will
always degrade the sound quality, not improve it!
