lossy to lossy transcoding is generally not a good idea.
The original data is forever lost in making of the initial mp3 or wma
file.
transcoding again to yet another lossy format, is going to compound
errors.

I feel your pain, originally i had only an mp3 player for portable use
and i had ripped all my CD's to 160 to 192 vbr mp3's.

Then I got a squeezebox :-/ time to rip 1000 CD's again.

But now my lossles rips can be transcoded whenever i want to.
