I never heard a loss of dynamic range. And -- as far as I understand
things -- this shouldn't be the case theoretically: the volume setting
of the whole album is changed, when album AP is implemented correctly,
this has _no_ impact on dynamic range. It could have (very limited)
impact in the days when positive RP could lead to clipping (the loudest
parts could be clipped), but this is no longer the case.

Also, RP with classical music is generally very mild (based on a quick
look I would say between +2b and -3db).

RP is not the holy grail of course. There is a natural tendency to
adjust the listening level to specific situations and specific music.
An example: when I'm going to listen to a symphony of Mahler (speak of
dynamic range!), I have a tendency to turn up the volume. Not because
the volume is lower compared to what I was listening to before, but
because listening to Mahler grabs my whole attention: I cannot do
anything else than listen to the music. While I can listen to a piano
sonata of Mozart or Beethoven while reading a book. Of course that's a
personal thing.

As others have said, RP could have a (small) negative impact on
SN-ratio when the volume of the player is already on a low level and
the RP is a large negative number. I have the volume of my Transporter
at about 85; this gives some room for positive RP and a lot of room for
negative RP.
