You could try Robin Bowes' apply_replaygain.pl script. That's how I applied replay gain to most of my collection, and I'm pretty sure it handles the various artist albumgain situation correctly. You can get it from www.robinbowes.com. Needless to say, you need to have Perl installed to run it.
