If you have a sizable collection of classical music, having composer
information and performer information in separate tags makes browsing
much more natural. It is worth getting it right.

The dBpoweramp ripping program can use a tag database that has better
tag information for classical music. However, you should be prepared to
edit the tag information before you rip a CD. I gave up on tag
databases and just entered the tag information myself. I figured out
what information I needed, where to put in the tags and how to do the
data entry job efficiently. I use J.River Media Center to do the
ripping and tag editing; it has features that make the job much easier.
It takes me 3-4 minutes max per CD.

I've ripped about 2500 CDs now.

The downside of co-operative tag databases is that the database entries
are not consistent in the way information is distributed between tags or
in spelling of names.

You want to look at Erland's Custom scan and Custom Browse plugins to
use the Composer tag properly.
