Yes. The filename is treated by Mp3tag much like any field in the
tags. It's accessed via the field name '_FILENAME'. When you change
any field, Mp3tag keeps all of the other fields intact. You might
notice that if you highlight a bunch of files and look at the Tag Panel
on the left-hand side that if all of the data in a given field is the
same, it will be displayed verbatim. If it differs between any two
tracks, you'll see <keep> (e.g. the Tracknumber field). This is just to
say, whatever is there won't be modified.

What exactly do you want to do? I think Filename is normally included
in the columns on the right. If not, it's easily added by right
clicking the column header, then 'Customize columns...', then add a
column and use %_filename% in both Value and Field. It can also be
added to the Tag Panel if you like. Once there, you can hand edit the
filename from within Mp3tag. More powerful, though, is to change the
filename based on tag data. You can create saved Action Groups for
this, or else use the button that shows a red ball and sheet of paper
(to the left of Aa buttons, it displays 'Tag - Filename' when you
mouseover it).
