Thanks for the foobar2000 suggestion.  For some reason it doesn't seem
to be able to read the .m4a file with the foo_input_alac plugin!  I
suspect it's not able to read 96/24 ALAC files and I see that others
have complained about not able to convert these hi-res ALAC back to
24-bits as well.

Annoying, and I will never encode anything to ALAC again unless Apple
allows a way to reverse it back to WAV's.
