1) Bring up ALL songs in list view 2) Edit =>Select All => Delete...But do NOT move files to recycle Bin! This will clear the itunes library of references to song files. 3) Re-import your collection
If, at any time, you've added new folders of music to your collection , you can (in itunes) use 'File => Add Folder to Library' to import the songs in that folder only, without affecting the rest of your itunes references. BTW, If you re-import w/o deleting, you'll get duplicate references to your songs...a big headache.
