Kiwi - thank you for your brilliant posts - which will take the rest of the night to assimilate - but that is a good thing! So far I've been working as follows: 1) use DVDAExplorer to rip the wavs from DVD-audio disks (using "stereo downmix" where there is only a 5.1 track set+downmix matrix file on the disk) 2) convert to FLAC, applying replaygain and if necessary downsampling to 24/96 from 24/192 (e.g. Steely Dan DVD-A's) using Foobar 2000 3) go into MP3Tag and set the album name and artist tags then get the remaining metadata from freedb within MP3Tag - works pretty well most of the time - these are mostly well known albums after all!. Then (once the tags are correct) rename the files from the tags whilst still in MP3Tag 4) add to MusicIP and validate, then archive the results to tags (only needed because I drive SC exclusively from MIP) 5) rescan SC 6) (open something nice and) listen with big smile Thanks again for your help!
