As I sit here ripping 1500+ CDs to Flac I cannot help but read your
response Phil and think it may be easier to "Hold up my copy of Steely
Dan" and talk someone into sending me the .flac file :-)

Over a year ago I ripped everything to 320 MP3s for use on the iphone
etc. I really never considered that I would be able to retire the
physical media to the basement. After lietening to a Transporter I
ordered one and I am sitting here ripping cds I have not touched in
years... Some of the music is obscure and I am having to enter data
etc. I resist the urge to go download it from Bit Torrent as the stigma
of the site keeps me away. It is a shame that you cannot just insert the
CD and read the tags only then download the entire library in bulk from
somewhere. (just dreaming) I am one of the lucky few with fiber to my
home and so far my download speeds average about 35mb which is close to
a full DS3 at home :-)

The logical choice for record companies is to make the music
downloadable in HI-rez to cut the distribution cost and of course rid
the world of more plastic. I for one would be happy to buy hi-rez online
instead of Redbook over the counter. I hate hearing good music and not
being able to find it anywhere.

Oh well back to the grind... only 1100ish more to go!!!
