Bert, those plugins will probably be the answer to what you want, however i like to use AA tags to group some things, such as Comedy Albums.
what i do is preface the AA tag with the word comedy, so my list looks and gets sorted as: " Comedy - Rodney Dangerfield Comedy - Sam Kinison " etc... my basic idea is that i use AA not to simply to denote artist, but for some things to control where it sorts and what gets grouped together. i also use "Soundtrack (Film)" and "Soundtrack (TV)" and sometimes i'll add the person behind it if its not a VA album, so "Soundtrack (Film) Hans Zimmer" or john williams or whoever, and this brings a lot of order to the chaos. i don't want every VA album to appear under the generic term "Various Artists" but i do use it for those true non-soundtrack VA albums. something else i do is put "tribute" on the end of a tribute cd. so the AA tag for a beach boys tribute cd is: "Beach Boys tribute" and this sorts tribute albums with the artist they are tributes to. i find that a LOT better than simply grouping them into a vast VA category away from that artist. something else you can consider doing is using genre tags or if not that, use folder location. u can have root\audio\comedy and root\audio\music\<more genres if you want>\etc and the purpose of this is to have SC scan the audio folder, so everything is in SC, but then you go into the "browse folders" function of SC and load up the "music" folder as a playlist. if u experiment a little i think you'll see what i mean. i am usng methods like this is both include and exclude things like comedy, xmas, misc, etc... when building playlists using winamp's "smartviews." i'm still getting it down but its clear to me everything i want to do is possible using fairly uncomplicated (if occassionally tedious) methods. -- MrSinatra www.lion-radio.org using: sb2 & sbc (my home) / sbr (parent's home) - w/sc 7.3.4b - win xp pro sp3 ie8 - 3.2ghz / 2gig ram - 1tb wd usb2 raid1 - d-link dir-655 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67171 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
