It's not the bit depth causing the problem, it's the frequency. If the
24bit files are greater than 48Khz they will need to be transcoded.

I don't believe that SoX is available on any of the ReadyNAS boxes. I
could be wrong when it comes to their new high end units that have 2GHz+
processors, but the Duo definitely does not have enough power to run the
re-sampling.
