I used abcde for a while, and hacked it to do some things I wanted, like applying de-emphasis with sox when needed. I think it's some pretty amazing bash scripting.
Now I'm using icedax, which is extremely fast and has built in pre-emphasis detection and de-emphasis. For a primitive kind of "secure" ripping, I just rip to wav twice and compare checksums (this is all done automatically in the background with a shell script). Icedax is so fast that it's still much faster than abcde/cdparanoia even when ripping twice. (Don't bother using it's cddb retrieval feature though: it hanldes Latin1 charaters incorrectly). Interesting, when checksums fail to match, it's usually the LG drive I bought recently, and not the Lite-on drive I have that is several years old. -- Daverz ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Daverz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32335 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=66724 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
