Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents... I'm a long time 'grip' user. I've
found it the best Linux ripper/encoder in terms of ease of use,
reliability, configurability, etc. As far as the Vorbis comments, you
can add something like ' -T "ARTIST=%A" -T "TRACKNUMBER=%t" -T
"ALBUM=%d" -T "TITLE=%n" -T "GENRE=%G" -T "DATE=%y"' to the encoder
command-line options (or maybe I'm misreading what you are looking for).

Recently I've been playing around with 'rubyripper'. I like it because
it seems to strive to do a lot of the things the EAC does on the Windows
side of things. It also gives you the option to rip to multiple formats
at once, which I can't do with 'grip' (or at least I don't know how).
My only complaint about 'rubyripper' is that it doesn't seem to look-up
CD's very well, especially for newer titles.

After ripping I also use the previously mentioned 'easytag' to add
and/or clean things up in the tags, and "Album Art Downloader"
(cross-platform, open source) to get cover art.

Also wanted to add that although I haven't done much with it
personally, at least in terms of ripping, tagging, encoding, etc., Wine
seems to be getting better and better. So, if there is a Windows only
program that you like it may be worth trying it with Wine under Linux.
