1) did you try "rate -vb 95" ?
2) what is your full command line for sox?
I also did not like rate -v (but rate -vb 95 is different)
Interesting will to know your opinion for my custom-convert.conf
(I use -b24 so, although I did not check, I believe sox shall not
activate dithering, right?)
