I use mostly kid3, then when some special operations are needed easytag or mp3tag under wine. Import of metadata from cddb or the musicbrainz db is there and adding custom tags or deleting tags is easy to do. The interface is very clean for basic operations. Just configure everything right in the Settings menu before you start. For deleting unwanted tag formats from flac files mp3tag is the way to go, but be sure to do it carefully or else you might delete ALL tags like I did (before I had a backup). :-)
