Whatever works for you -- I don't think you'll find a consensus. I have probably only 40-60 singles, and I treat them just as if they came from albums. I tag the album they come from, and even the correct track number on that album. I also use a directory structure as if I have the full album. I like knowing where the song fits within an artist's career, and also finding the track(s) easily alongside his or her full albums that I may have. My wife, on the other hand, doesn't like this because she'll start playing an album by a particular artist and get annoyed when it stops after 1-2 tracks, because that's all we have. I'd probably be annoyed, too, except I know which "albums" are like this and which aren't, so I don't get surprised.
Some people make the equivalent of a Various Artists/Singles organization, throwing together singles by various artists as if they were one compilation. Others may split those various artists groupings by genre or other theme. Yet other people create a directory of "Singles" by a single artist, filing it among the artist's other works (ie, artist/singles). Some who have totally embraced the music download era don't believe in the album concept at all, and put all tracks by an artist together in the same folder. I have no idea what, if anything, they do about track numbers and the like. I'm sure there are other variations that people use. Experiment with a few options and figure out what makes sense for you. -- aubuti ------------------------------------------------------------------------ aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78765 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
