I only use ALBUMARTIST field if I want to have the album referenced in a
special way. Otherwise I leave it blank. (Note I use COMPILATiON =1 for
true multiartist albums, but still leave ALBUMARTIST blank). My uses of
AA are:

1. I have an artist that uses various names, but want them all to show
up as the same artist. Example, Doug Sahm as AA for "Sir Douglas
Quintet", "Doug Sahm and Band" or "Miles Davis" for "Miles Davis
Quintet" etc. I also use AA for certain tribute albums. That is, I
might put Bob Dylan as the AA for a bob dylan tribute album, even though
he's not an artist on any tracks. But this way, the tribute album shows
up in my Bob Dylan album listing.
