I drop four MAKE NEXT (WAIT) events into each hour at :17, :32(no 1/2-hour news), :46 and :58, so the hour is constantly self-adjusting and dropping "overflow" songs during each quarter hour. I also strive to schedule one or more short songs (3 mins or less) close to the NEXTs, so if there is any slopover it wont be so terrible.
Having an Oldie or two (2:30 average) before the ID also helps keep things close to sked. It means a little extra work in prepping each hour, but its simplified by establishing "SHORT SONG" as a Scheduler Code and working it into the format clock near the update times.
