Hi Robert, it's not exactly like you are saying.. .wav files are note plain audio files. They can be PCM or MP2 audio files wrapped into a *broadcast* wave container. You can analyze them using an hex editor.. it's different from a normal .wav file which common software like sox or ffmpeg usually write.
Now, I don't know if Rivendell cares about those chunks (extra information bytes) but I can prove you that they exists inside the file. That's the reason I want using rdimport script, just being sure they gonna be the same. Are you sure Rivendell can easely play those plain wav file encoded by sox/ffmpeg? Last but not least sox can't process directly mp2(wav) files, so it's a step more. I think I'll try with rdimport first. In case of failure I'll try somthing else. Anyway I don't like the fact that filenames (and chunk info) don't change if you change db infos.. It can become milseading after many import -> edit and so on... :-S ...but it's just my opinion. I wouldn't restrict groups with range of id numbers... 2012/7/27 Robert Jeffares <jeffares.rob...@gmail.com>: > all the files in /var/snd have just a filename which is the cart number > and the cut number > eg > 814948_001.wav > which is cut 1 from cart 814948 > all the Cart Data is stored in MySQL [a great feature of Rivendell which > keeps audio as just audio] So you save GROUP and Scheduler Code data as > well. > > There is no cartchunk data in the audio files stored in /var/snd > > if you resample the audio and save in the new location > > /source/var/snd > resample 48000 to 44100; keep the file name and save > in > /new/var/snd > > your entire library will be accessible as before by the new system > > There are several resample options which you can build into a shell > script and I would add a ' normalise to -13 ' in there so the levels > remain the same on the sound files.
