Good evening everyone,

I'm setting up an automated DJ for times when our station has no live DJ.
My goal is to play the station's legal ID within 2 minutes of the top of
the hour, (between 58:00 and 00:02). I'm using a single clock for the
entire grid. The clock plays a MUSIC-group cart every three minutes, except
for a TIMEANNNCE-group cart scheduled at 58:00 past the hour. That "legal"
event uses a hard start time with the "wait up to..3:30" option.

I am overscheduling music to avoid gaps, which works perfectly (excess
songs at the end of the hour are skipped).

In the generated log, there is
at 54:36, a music cart which is 6m52s long, which will end at 01:28.
at 01:28, another music cart which is 3m20s long
at 58:00, the legal cart which will wait up to 3m30s before playing

I would expect the second music cart, which is scheduled to start at 01:28
(3m28s after the legal cart was scheduled to start) to be skipped entirely,
but instead it gets two seconds of play before being cut off by the legal
cart. The primary goal is accomplished, the legal cart plays within my
two-minutes-on-either-side-of-the-top-of-the-hour window, but I would like
to avoid cutting off a song abruptly whenever possible.

An alternative method I've explored is using the "make next" option for the
legal ID event, which works exactly as I want almost all of the time. The
exception is that if a long (e.g. 10-minute) song is scheduled just before
the legal ID cart, the legal ID cart won't play until after my desired
two-minutes-on-either-side window has expired.

Is there a combination of settings that will "make next" an event at its
scheduled time, but also will have a maximum time it will wait before
interrupting another event that's going on?

Thanks for your insight,
Nate "DJ Homebody" Hartmann
