A long time ago when testing rivendell for the first deployment I did. I ran into issues with logs not switching/starting properly at midnight. I don't remember all the bad behavior I observed, but I know sometimes it would lead to nothing playing until a user stepped in and manually corrected the issue. I came up with a "fix" that I think I found somewhere in the mailing list or the wiki. I'm still using that fix today on a couple of Rivendell 3.6.5 systems and I have not had any issues with log changeover at midnight since I started using it. YMMV of course.
- designate one or more special clocks that ONLY run in the 2300 slot. Every day's 24th hour (starting at 2300) must use one of these special clocks. - record or create a short audio cart that can play just before log change. I use a 5 second recording that says "You're listening to <legal ID>, it's twelve o'clock" - Set up an event with a timed start to play that audio cart. - insert the event into each 2300 clock so it will be the last event in the clock, and it will finish playing at the top of the hour. I have my 5 second cart play every night at 23:59:54 The downside to this is that whatever is playing at 23:59:54 will be cut off to play the cart and get ready for the log change. My station runs unattended a lot, so that's a price we're willing to pay.
