Just out of curiosity, why is Apache River using this AR* nomenclature for
releases? Any particular reason a number-based versioning scheme isn't
selected? Would be nice for Maven compatibility, for instance.

Speaking of which, is there interest in having releases posted to the Maven
repo? I know of some potential downstream consumers...
