I hope I'm not naive in believing that River can still become a joyful
and active place as having been for a few months in the Java EE world
and the twilight zone of unchecked exception I believe there needs to be
such a project one can retreat to ;-)
So I would say go ahead with using Jini, that what is in SVN or other
projects based upon that code base that might make working with Jini
easier, for that see http://www.jini.org/wiki/Category:Getting_Started .
And if you believe we are doing a bad job give us the spanking we
apparently need.
