tested today...
downloaded from ftp.kando.hu--- MD5 checked correct--- wrote CD...
verified track....
then!!!
Machine Cryix 333 64mg - WD 13.0g - 44XDelta CD - SOYO 5EH5 ver 1.1
SIS 6236- made by Palit(PCI) - Creative SB16 - PCI winmodem (uggh!
don't scream I know...) Microsoft serial 2 button mouse
Rather a hard machine to installed any Linux distribution on
Feelings....
Have installed eDesktop 2.4 on this machine also. Lizard worked fairly
well on both yet while monitoring the whole process Kernel kept
screaming about ld.so not being page alinged "Please convert" it said
crtl+alt+(f4 or f5 or f6[don't really remember])
It was really interesting that lizard detected my USB ZIP250 w/a z100
disk inserted but after install could'nt mount it... major or minor
block # problem.... /dev/sda4
As allways I used 16k color 8 by 6 w/this Palit video card. Kde2 looked
great, sound worked but synthhsizer didn't... Caldera has problems with
it too.
Red hat 7.0 beta (pinstripe) has no trouble setting up the sound
correctly on this oddball machine. However it didn't even notice my ZIP
or my video card. This video card is a fun one let me tell ya.. Cheap!
Don't really understand why but Lizard mouse dies if you probe the
video card (both on Caldera install and Redmond) Testing 8 x 6 16k
video mode will work fine but upon return to lizard say good by to
video, you can see lizard is still alive alt+n gets the next lizard
page but its unreadable....
Haven't tied it but I have thought about popping in an AMD K6-2.....
for some reason on redmond install lilo never wrote its boot code had
to manually repair that....
after a couple of hours genuinely playing w/KDE2 (I'm Impressed!) I
made the sad mistake of using file find to find a few wav's to try and
check out the media player (i knew synth wasn't workin for some reason)
about half way thru the find machine locked up Hard drive led on but
obviously not doing anything couldn't get to any of the other tty's to
kill kde and shut down proper. Next boot fsck fails /dev/hda1....
Oh well alotta fun anyway!!!!
Keep up the good work guys!
