One idea to consider is to alternate the day of the week based upon the
month. I.e. even numbered months are on Thursday, odd months on
Wednesday (or whatever day the group can settle upon). That can increase
the odds significantly for getting out to every other meeting at least.
The fall backs are added complexity for people to understand when the
meeting is and arranging a meeting place that can meet that flexibility.

As for weekend meetings (not that it impacts me being so far away now) I
doubt you'll get a big bite on that one... Most folks try to have a life
on weekends ;)

Cheers!
