I'm pretty sure FreeBSD uses tcsh out of the box. Adduser asks what
default shell you want.
I think the default shell as of obsd3.7 is ksh, or maybe this will be
true in 3.8.

Umm... it still is. At least on FreeBSD. Every box I have installed
has been (t)csh by default.
