Err... number 1 should be open the image.

I'm no expert either. But here's my best:
1. Open the document (too easy?!)
2. Right click the image
3. Goto file -> Save as
4. There should be a drop down option for the file format
5. Select the desired format and save
That should work. Let me know if it doesn't.
