This month we will be discussing WEP cracking techniques that were
discovered during the RLUG:GSA wireless hacking event. A brief
introduction to the 802.11x protocols will be discussed followed by an
introduction to packet sniffing. We will then introduce Kismet -- a
wireless network detector, sniffer, and intrusion detection system -- and
the aircrack-ng suite of wireless tools. This will be an intermediate to
advanced level talk.
A brief demonstration of Inkscape will also take place, so if you like
drawing you may find interest in this.
We will have extra time for short talks or topics this meeting, so if you
have something of interest you're welcome to bring it up! There will also
be the obligatory topic tangents, as well as Q&A and general discussion
time.
As always, we'll head somewhere for beer, food, merriment, and chat after
the meeting.
THE "WHY" PART
~~~~~~~
The objective of a Linux User Group is to provide a focal point for the
local Unix community to discuss aspects of the Unix operating system,
provide educational services regarding Unix, maintain a list of Unix savvy
consultants, and to provide a social environment for Unix users to meet
and exchange ideas.
If you have any questions please contact info at rlug.org.
Cheers!
P.S. If you know of anyone who may be interested in participating in RLUG
let them know about this meeting!
