Well the idea came up in irc yesterday about possibly adding a plugin which would add extra tags to the wps without overloading the core, anyway, its sort of finished and I want t know what people think and weather its committable?

I think it sounds overly complicated and far away from KISS.

If someone would need to really go wild on the WPS, why not just write a plugin that does it all and does it exactly the way you want? We would only have to make sure the plugin API can provide all the info such a WPS plugin would need.

Feel free to ignore my non-developer ass, but:
How is offloading all graphical and extended tag WPS functions to a plugin in conflict with keeping it simple? It appears to me this would allow a clean forking of (what are arguably) divided interests. Those who value core size over eye-candy would have a nice, clean and simple WPS interface very similar to today (with arguably less cruft), while those who want massive eye-candy WPSs would have a way to implement them without interfering with the core functions.
I'm sure I am missing something, and welcome being corrected.
