I played very quickly and for a really short time as now with the new
playback engine, but I experienced a behaviour more responsive. I
maintained the same settings, especially dircache and, at least, changing
track back and forth resulted more agile.

There was something I wanted to do, and even tried that would make it far
more responsive but the results can be odd if PCM is force-cleared on manual
track change (without crossfade of course) so I had to just put it on hold
for now.
