A> Did you fix the rejected stuff?
B> With OLC, it's best if you patch that in DIRECTLY after downloading
the source. Otherwise, you'll run into some rather large and lengthy
rejections, causing yourself much more work than usual.

OLC is going to WORK for the win/cygwin versions. Then again, I haven't
tried it, so I wouldn't be able to speak any more about win specific
versions.

OLC is a patch that goes in clean for me. It has on ANY rom mud,
providing it's the FIRST patch to go in (as it always should be). If
it's not, then you've got a hell of a long road ahead of you. Don't
blame it on the author, for leaving lousy instructions, THANK the author
for being kind enough to maintain his own mud, AND provide a snippet
that's widely used.

And, if I may make a suggestion, use Olc2, NOT olc 1.8 -- There's a lot
more flexibility with OLC2 and it'll save you quite a bit of work in the
longrun..

Just my 0.02

Subject: OLC trouble

Hello,

I have been having a bit of trouble installing OLC. I have Ivan's
version 1.81 for ROM24b6. I followed the instructions the best I could
but I felt the author left a lot out that was probably needed to make
the OLC installment run a little easier. I have a few questions but for
now I will tell you all what problems I have experienced. I go into
cygwin and go to patch olc by typing patch < patch.olc The 1st Hunk
completes successfully with 2 fuzz (whatever that means). Then it is
told I experienced an error on like 24 - 29. I get another option to
patch file which I choose again, patch.olc. It tries to patch but fails
and gives me a message that it cannot rename patch.olc to
patch.olc.orign. Confused, I figure this was supposed to happen and
continue cutting, pasting, dragging, etc... files into their appropriate
places. The directions then say i have to 'make' in SRC folder so I do
so. I get tons of warnings but in the directions it says I should just
ignore them. I switch the rom.exe from the SRC to the area folder and go
into my pfile. Following the directions I type Sec 9 in my pfile giving
me the highest security there. I load the game, help olc works but
nothing else does for OLC, I experience no new bugs besides FREAD_CHAR
no match. What happened and what can I do to fix my problem. Thanks for
reading this!

Charlie
