ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH Once again, read manuals, become familliar with Linux before you try to run an application under the operating system. What I meant by read the FAQ was NOT the Rom faq, but most any linux FAQ available. Running a game under /usr/xxx is probably NOT the best idea. Or it's just as smart as running the game as root (which ANYONE who's read ANY documentation on Linux knows better than to do).
What I've done (personally) is create a partition directly for DR, called /muds , then ran the game from there, with /muds owned by 1 specific uid:gid. Judging by your (lack of) familliarity with the operating system you're using, you need to take the following steps BEFORE you run a game. A> become familliar with the environment your mud is in, through reading manuals, FAQs, everything. B> gain experience with the operating system your mud is using, by using it on a day to day basis. C> Become familliar with the filesystem structure that you should be using, how things are set up in Linux. If you were, you would not be asking these questions, because you would know where to put the game. > /usr/QuickMUD/ is this wrong? I had to log into RedHat under root to move > the mud there. Just seemed like the right place. Also I read the ROM FAQ > and it does not tell you where to install the MUD. It just gives you some > tips on how to start it. Like from the area directory type startup & or > something like that. I've managed to compile it just can't run it.
