(btw: Dantin, you can "man chmod" to figure out how to set the permissions properly, x being 1, w being 2 and r being 4) Another thing you might do is to give us a step by step breakdown of how your attempting to start your mud, that may shed some light on the matter of why you can't seem to start it.
