Try 'jed'.. it's a very nice editor if you like bell's and whistles.  Color 
formats the code which is my favorite.

i got nano, because i could not find a place to download pico, and nano has
a pico feature to make it look like pico, and a feature to make the menu
like nano.
i think nano is better.

Thats really kewl and all, but Nano is like 10 times better the pico. And it
is has all the exact functonality as pico with like tons more features. So
if anything Nano is by far the better text editor of the two...
