Hello fellow ROM enthusiasts,

Is there a considerable difference between sending 10 or so lines, one at a
time, and sending them
as a big, single line?

Good day,
In a word, no.
To answer your question, I ran code equivalent to yours, except instead of "first line", "second line", and the likes, I used 500 bright red colour codes ("{R" in my case) (resulting in 1500 red colour codes) at once so that way it had to do some actual work. I turned off output in the client (to prevent anything there messing with results). I ran each method 10000 times and then ran this test several times, averaged the results and came up with a difference of 2 seconds. While that's hardly a real world situation, it's much harder to time sending out small strings sporadically. So for anything under 15 million consecutive colour codes, I wouldn't worry.
