There are several things you can do: electric Fence is okay..
but I recommend getting the ROM bug listing (www.mageslair.net check for buglisting.txt) and fixing all the leaks there. The there is a memcheck snippet that finds plenty. AND THEN there is a new free_mem and alloc_mem using canary-style checking. All of which is in Sacred (www.mageslair.net/sacred.php) I did not notice valgrind out there. I will try it. Sacred was run against Insure++ from parasoft.com about a year ago. Its the best commercial tool in the business but you do pay for it.
