Yes, if you do decide to start up an open-source (or even closed for that matter) MMORPG, keep us informed on it. Professional teams of already-do-this-for-a-living programmers take 18-24 months to develop games, and that is doing 40-50+ hrs/week and getting paid. It will be no small task and something you'll need a few friends along for the ride.
