Hi Richard,
with Action Language I was thinking about somthing in line with the action semantics outlined in UML. In my domain, which is telecom, there is a strong customer demand for us to support our products on several platforms(Windows, Linux, Solaris and other Unix flavours). My idea was to use the MDA concept outlined by OMG and specify an executable model using Rose. This model(PIM - Platform Independent Model) would be free from implementation details. From this model I would derive a platform specific model(PSM) that I would use for generating code. To do this I need a tool, preferrably Rose, that supports an Action Language for specifying my application logic in a platform/language independent way. Some of your questions applies for me too.
