Actually looking at the code I suggest a compromise. Let's have a new internal colour map for the controllers etc. but for the moment no GUI for it - just hardcode them in the map. This way we don't break what's there (or change the colour names) but we also have a generic colour map that anything else can use. That'll do for me and I suspect our users for the moment.
