If this is not a good idea, please say so, otherwise I'll log it on sf.

An introductory bar or a final bar in a composition may contain
notes and/or rests whose total duration is less than the nominal duration
of a bar according to the time signature. For example, the composition
may not begin on the first beat of a bar. Unfortunately it is not possible
in RG to write a bar which is shorter than the time signature would suggest.

Suggestion:

Implement the previously discussed idea of "invisible notation".
This would enable the user to make the surplus rests that are otherwise present
in an introductory bar or final bar become invisible in the score.

An invisibility feature would also be useful for notes.
For example, you could notate a trill directly on the score by
drawing all the notes inside the trill exactly as you would like them played,
e.g. using notes of not necessarily equal inexact durations,
and then hide all the notes of the trill except its principal note
and perhaps also its leading grace notes or its final grace notes.
The notes of the trill would be invisible on the score and in printouts
yet still audible during playback and in exported MIDI files.
The same method would be useful for entering other sorts of ornaments
like mordents.

The method of invisible notation would be preferable to
the method of triggered segments which is a very interesting idea but
in practice it is a slow and clumsy process
to create and edit triggered segments, especially because
it requires you to work outside the context of the score, which
is anathema to anyone familiar with score-based composition.
