Tell me if you want it to be started in a separate thread :) I'll xpost it to dssi-devel anyway. To my experience most musicians will want Rosegarden to read drum maps from a drum sampler like Hydrogen, LDRUM or, erm, NI Battery :) We have already discussed it once in dssi-devel and, IIRC, DSSI should handle it pretty easily. So, in an ideal situation, sequencer and drum sampler should keep their drum mapping in sync all the time. The usual way to work with drums'n'percussion would be: 1. Create a drum track 2. Add some drum instruments to the editor in RG. 3. Go to the sampler. See all those instruments there. 4. Assign samples. 5. Go back to RG, start editing the pattern. 6. Go back to drum sampler, if you want to change ADSR or anything like that. or 1. Create a drum track in RG 2. Go to the drum sampler, open a drum kit. 3. Go back to RG ans see default instruments appear there. 4. Change mapping in either RG or drum sampler 5. Start editing the pattern. etc. I encourage you to ask Peter Eschler, how far he has gone with porting LDrum to DSSI, so that you maybe wouldn't need to write your own testing-purpose-only dssi drum sampler. More ideas to follow :) Alexandre ------------------------------------------------------- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users.
