Having just looked at the old canvas again, I'm afraid I can't recommend it. Bottom line here is a simple comparison test. New document with a default of 100 bars. Draw one MIDI segment. Grab it and drag it all the way to bar 100. Stop. Drag it back. This test takes about 0:07 seconds in both directions with 1.0 and with HEAD it takes 1:30 to go to the right, and 2:45 to get all the way back to the left. The graphics look a lot better now, but the actual scrolling behavior is still extremely dismal I'm afraid. I'm getting ready to take a look myself and see if I have any brilliant suggestions. It looks to me for all the world like something is happening to make it lose track of mouse clicks/button down/however that actually works. Either the drawing is still grotesquely inefficient or something else is breaking. Since everything *appears* much zippier when it actually moves, I'm really inclined to suspect some other problem. -- Michael McIntyre ---- Silvan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Linux fanatic, and certified Geek; registered Linux user #243621 http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Rue/5407/ http://rosegarden.sourceforge.net/tutorial/ ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Discover Easy Linux Migration Strategies from IBM.
