It would be nice (practically speaking) to be able to change the selection of the instrument itself from within that box, but I've always shied away from actually implementing that because it seems conceptually wrong. The box contains information about and parameters of the instrument, and which instrument it is is not one of those. I've never been completely sure though. Any thoughts on that?
