Dear Chris,
Concerning the .rc files, I have a few questions.
I notices some inconsistencies in menu naming.
In the rosegardenui.rc:
<Menu name="Segments">
In the matrix.rc
<Menu name="segments">
Are these case sensitive?
If so, should we adjust these for uniformity or are they by design different?
...
Another question:
I'm noticing some inconsistencies and have been noting them with <!-- JAS -->
comments.
Is our plan at this point to just strictly duplicate the RG 1.7.X interface
errors and all, or can I make some adjustments along the way?
I know there are issues with translation and stuff and we are trying to avoid
changing stuff, but I fear that some of this will not undergo such scrutiny for
a long time to come. It just feels best to make these obvious, but mostly
cosmetic changes as I go--like writing "MIDI" instead of "midi"
I'm happy to go either way, but if we are duplicating the interface, I will
keep adding comments as before and have to remember to address these issues
later.
...
In the matrix.rc, I've noticed that there are inconsistencies in the
View-->Grid pulldown menu. There are shortcut keys and accelerator keys. As a
shortcut, I press 1 to Snap to Beat, but if I'm in the View-->Grid pulldown
menu I press 1 to snap to 1/48. Snap to 1/2 and Snap to 3/8 have no
accelerator keys assigned.
Maybe these were the best solution given the nature of the pulldown menu, but
seems a little confusing when looked at under scrutiny. I imagine most folks
would just use the shortcut keys and not go through the pulldown menu except to
use it as a reference to the shortcut keys--except for the dotted and triplet
snaps that have no shortcuts.
Which as you look the pulldown seems incomplete since it doesn't include a snap
to triplet crotchet, triplet quaver, or triplet half. Which depending on meter
selection could be common where as a triplet demisemiquave I find typically a
lot less useful.
We might want to consider reworking this menu at some point.
...
You thoughts on these things would be helpful.
Sincerely,
Julie S.
