Dear Jani,

It is quite possible and quite easy. That is definitely a no-brainer.
But, to the earlier part of your comment. I enjoyed the idea of the feedback
that leaving the button pressed gave when leaving the mode.
As a thought in this vain:
There are at least 2 dozen ways (to be conservative) to active the Note/Rest
Inserter via hot-keys, toolbar buttons, and right-click menus that activate the
Note / Rest Inserter. So knowing what you will get when you ask RG to insert a
note or rest is very important. Important enough to "NOT" unselect the button
will not currently in Note / Rest Inserter mode.
Much has gone into the updating of the Note / Rest Inserter and its access
methods to ensure a good user experience even at that sake off adding a bit of
complexity and some a-typical behaviors.
That said, I'm not opposed to turning it off when leaving Note / Rest Insert
mode, but if the only real perk is to be able to reselect it and talk about at
the start of this conversation. Then no, I do not favor un-selecting the butto
on when leaving Note / Rest Inserter mode.
But, if we did, then I suggest we also un-select the accidental button as well
since its only purpose is to indicate which kind of note it will insert via
mouse insertion. Keyboard entry ignores this setting since it has its own
mechanism to determine the accidental to insert (via musical scale / interval
theory).

Me either. But I'd be happy to run with it if somebody could show me the way.
I tried and was very unhappy with the solution I came up with.

Good point. I didn't even think of that. We already force the Note / Rest
Inserter into Note mode when a number hot-key is pressed.
Doing so for the accidentals would definitely fall in that category and easy to
implement as well
Thank you for your input.
Sincerely,
Julie S.
