In entering notes using the notation editor, with the "Adjust
velocity to follow text dynamics" toolbar button selected, notes end
up having a velocity of 100, regardless what text dynamics is
in-place at the point the note is entered. I have tried this with
several different dynamics settings (ppp, p, mp, f). The dynamics
setting appears to have no effect.
I had to fiddle with it to remember how it works. The "magic music
stand" icon is the thing that actually performs action. The check
buttons control what actions are part of the "magic."
1. Create a segment, enter a note, enter a dynamic
2. Make a selection including the note and dynamic
3. With the "follow text dynamics" button checked (default state), hit
the "magic music stand" button
I just did this with whatever somewhat out of date development build I
have compiled, and it worked. The dynamic was "ppp" and the velocity
ended going from 100 to about 25.
This tool bar feature was just a fast access GUI for a dialog box that
already existed, which is why the interface is kind of weird. I
created it as a shortcut to Adjust -> Notes -> Interpret... or
thereabouts, going entirely on memory.
Michael & Yves:
Thank you very much for the clarification. That solves my problem.
