NTP? I don't know but would be really interesting at the least if timers
and clocks are tied like that in a studio system.

Of course the OS keeps clock synced to something out there. Should be easy
to disable for testing.

Thanks for the pointers! I got now a few things to learn and a few to try.
The relations between RG, ALSA, kernel and all is one course.

I'm now in the middle of a song project, will perform live in 9 days
(though not using RG live, I need it for building the song), so I cannot
compromise the system really, yet. The goal is to make one virtual card out
of the Deltas and forget their MIDI. On my past experiment on the old
computer the MIDI was not implement in the virtual card setup and that's
actually what I want now. For the MIDI IO I will try Midisport 8x8 USB I
just received.

I can say life is not boring with Linux audio, but the lack of free time
annoys occasionally :)  I like Rosegarden, it has made my current studio
work fruitful, and that's essentially why I'm here.
