I'm not surprised. It's only intended for copying one or two
segments. More than that will take some additional work. Probably not
ideal.

Select the segments. Ctrl+C to copy. Ctrl+N for a new document.
Ctrl+V to paste.
Unfortunately this doesn't seem to preserve track sorting? (or is using
some other sorting criteria)?
